The primary objective is to demonstrate the performance and implementation potential of a concept through tests or analyses. The individual is accountable for the quality of their own work and operates under direct supervision with prescribed work instructions and systems checking. Tasks are executed within a well-defined operational framework, following a step-by-step sequence of standard operational tasks to achieve the desired results.Roles and ResponsibilitiesUnderstand, monitor and improve manufacturing process capabilitiesLeverage data acquisition, management and processing systems to focus improvement efforts to improve efficiency and reduce costHelp to advance company’s effort to incorporate contemporary manufacturing technologiesIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency through the use of automation where appropriateFormally document new part designs, fixture designs and manufacturing procedures according to internal and external requirementsRespond when needed to manufacturing emergencies to quickly identify and remediate issuesWork with design teams, quality assurance, planning, manufacturing, purchasing, and suppliers to understand cause and implement solutionsFormal and timely communication to the management team on project statusCreate, edit and approve engineering changes, work instructions, deviations, and other documentation as requiredRequired QualificationsBachelors Degree in an Engineering or related discipline (Mechanical Engineering Preferred)3+ years, but ideally 5 years’ practical experience in a manufacturing environmentMust be competent using Solidworks or equivalent design softwareStatistically sound data analysis abilities to describe, diagnose, predict outcomes and prescribe solutionsDemonstratable success developing task specific applications including the ability to document user level instruction and train operators to achieve proficiencyDemonstrable use of a structured approach when analyzing and evaluating alternatives to manufacturing issues.Desired CharacteristicsMust be able to communicate and interact successfully with all levels of the organization.Must have the ability to generate written communication that is clear and concise, to lead a discussion among colleagues as well as provide formal presentations to management.Must be able to work independently/self-motivated. Experience with and knowledge of process automation including robotics and coordinate systemsA proven track record working with cross-functional development teams.
