Overview Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (L&D) in San Luis Obispo, California. Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for obstetric patients in the Labor and Delivery unit, including monitoring maternal and fetal status.
• Assist during labor and delivery and in postpartum care; manage triage, admission processes, and escalation of complications.
• Administer medications and IV therapies per physician orders; support epidural anesthesia administration and maintain sterile technique.
• Assist with cesarean deliveries when indicated; provide immediate newborn care and neonatal resuscitation as needed.
• Document patient assessments, care plans, and progress in the EPIC EMR; coordinate with obstetricians, anesthesia, and neonatal teams.
• Educate patients and families on postpartum care, lactation support, and discharge planning.

Requirements

• Active registered nursing license in the state of assignment (California)
• BLS certification
• At least two years of recent experience in Labor and Delivery or obstetric nursing
• Epic EMR experience
• Ability to work night shifts and meet guaranteed hours
