CNC Machine Operator Pay Rate: $37.06/hr. Read manufacturing prints, machine drawings and operator's manuals, adjust tooling and process parameters, interpret programs and interact with Engineering to solve problems as well as optimizing operations. Operate material handling equipment, use a variety of measuring equipment, and perform other miscellaneous tasks. Must be willing to work overtime as needed. Will be subjected to dust, filings, chips, heat, and noise in the normal performance of their duties. The use of PPE is stipulated. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities CNC Mill, Lathe, and Mill Turn Machining - 60% of time- Operation of 3 and 5 axis vertical and horizontal mills, lathes, and mill turn- Performs CNC set ups that may entail truing up locating surfaces-Capable to vet CNC programs and cutter selection on legacy CNC tooling- Responsible for training less skilled Machinists and Operators- Ensure correct fixturing is used and maintained.- Programming Pre-setters and Shrink-fit equipment and setting tool life parameters- Understands macro programming and subroutines tied to main programs- Understands fundamentals of GD&T dimensioning and tolerancing- Load NC programs, adjust offset tables, maintain and replace cutting tools.- Electronically document in-process data to maintain QA and production system requirements.- Measure, and record QA data; dimensions, serial numbers, etc.- Perform measuring equipment calibration checks.- Knowledge of Fanuc, Haas, Mazatrol, Fagor, and Seimens controls Machine Setup and prove out - 20% of time- Operate material handling equipment including hoists, cranes, tow motors, etc.- Abilty to read and understand detailed prints and work instructions.- Knowledge of indicators, micrometers, and calipers to accurately align workholding.- Must assemble tools and accurately set tool length as well as alignment and runout- Must have knowledge of work offsets and tool offset parameters in each control type- Must be capable of proving out 1st piece setups on different types of equipment General Skills required for all of the above operations. 20% of time- Use calipers, depth gages, micrometers, and fabricated gaging equipment.- Utilize tool setting equipment- Utilize computers. Access, and use, control and data collection software.- Track orders. Maintain traceability. Move material to enable the production process to flow efficiently and effectively.- Communicate well with other associates, supervision engineering, and management.- Work in teams for daily production and improvement opportunities.- Experienced associates assist in training new recruits.- 6S & Housekeeping duties to maintain a safe, clean efficient work environment.- Duties often require; standing for extended periods of time, walking, bending, stooping, climbingg, repetitive lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing of heavily laden carts. Qualifications Education Level: (Required): High School Diploma or GED- Field of Study/Area of Experience Machine Tool Technology- 2-4 Years of experience in CNC machines Skills, Knowledge and Abilities List Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures Ability to research and analyze data effectively Good/Strong/Excellence verbal and written communication skills Ability to read blueprints and process specification instructions Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadline Ability to visualize and plan objectives and goals strategically Team building Skills Intermediate level knowledge of CNC software applications and strong understanding of CNC operating systems Good knowledge of related technologies such as CAD-CAM Experience/ knowledge of computers and applications Environmental & Physical Requirements Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in manufacturing environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 90%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb. May have possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.
