The company plans to develop future habitats and systems for the Moon and Mars, dedicated space stations for government partners, and other crewed systems that will unlock the expanding long-term space economy.Vast is looking for a CNC Mill Machinist on our Second Shift, reporting to the Supervisor of Machining, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.As a machinist, you will manufacture hardware from billet material and additively manufactured hardware utilizing state of the art CNC machinery.Shift hours:Second Shift: 2:30PM-10:00PMResponsibilities:Set up and operate multi-axis CNC Mills/LathesRead and interpret setup sheets and tool listsAbility to check parts that are running according to the in-process inspection plan, including optical comparator, caliper, and micrometersUnderstand speeds and feedsCommunicate with machine shop leadership when parts exhibit quality issues or concernPerform first article inspectionsDeburr all parts to ensure quality partAble to read and interpret aerospace drawingsPerform basic maintenance needs of the machine. Clean chips, fill coolant, add fluids, Clean machineEffectively work as a team and pass on workload to the following shiftMinimum Qualifications:2+ years of CNC machining experiencePreferred Skills & Experience:5+ years working with CNC machines with HAAS and Fanuc controlsHigh school diploma or equivalent work experienceWorking knowledge of GD&TWorking knowledge of G codeStrong Mechanical aptitudeAbility to deburr all parts to ensure quality partsStrong oral and written communicationCollege or Trade school certificateWorking knowledge of Additive Manufactured PartsMulti-axis Mill, Lathe, Mill-Turn and Turn-Mill knowledgeAbility to run up to 2 machines simultaneouslyPay Range: California$23 - $49 USDBase salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand.
