Job Description

Prepared and maintained a sterile field throughout surgical procedures
Performed case setup based on procedure requirements and surgeon preference cards
Ensured availability and proper functioning of instruments, implants, and surgical supplies
Assisted surgeons during procedures by anticipating needs and passing instruments efficiently
Prepared and positioned patients, including skin prep and sterile draping
Performed accurate surgical counts (sponges, sharps, instruments) in accordance with protocol
Handled, labeled, and managed surgical specimens appropriately
Operated surgical equipment such as suction, cautery, and retractors
Assisted in achieving hemostasis using appropriate techniques and tools
Adhered to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards (AORN, OSHA)
Supported emergency and trauma procedures as required
Communicated effectively with the surgical team, including RN, surgeons, and anesthesia staff
Assisted with room turnover to ensure readiness for subsequent cases
Supported sterile processing, including instrument cleaning and sterilization coordination
Ensured compliance with hospital policies and patient safety standards
