Cash Application Specialist

Job Description

FTS is seeking a detail-oriented Cash Applications Specialist to process incoming payments, maintain accurate financial records, and respond to billing and payment inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Process and apply cash, check, credit card, online, and wire payments to the correct accounts and invoices.
\n
• Review, verify, and batch incoming payments.
\n
• Maintain daily cash receipt records and correct discrepancies to meet accounting deadlines.
\n
• Research unidentified payments and apply them to the appropriate account.
\n
• Prepare bank deposits according to established procedures.
\n
• Resolve payment issues, including returned checks, refunds, and declined credit cards.
\n
• Respond professionally to billing and payment inquiries by phone and email.
\n
• Reconcile payment records with event and registration reports.
\n
• Follow internal controls and maintain confidential financial information.
\n
• Assist with other accounting tasks as assigned.
\n

Required Qualifications

\n
• Bachelor’s degree.
\n
• Accounts receivable and cash applications experience.
\n
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
\n
• Experience with accurate, high-volume data entry.
\n
• Experience processing payments in an automated system.
\n
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and customer service skills.
\n

Preferred Qualifications

\n
• Nonprofit experience.
\n
• Experience with netFORUM or another association management system.
\n
