Construction Safety Manager - Night Shift Location: Chino Mine | Silver City, NM Duration: 2 Weeks (Start: 8/3) Type: 1099 Contractor Night Shift Safety Coverage Compensation & Schedule Pay Rate: $52/hr Overtime: Paid After 40 Hours Per Diem: $150/Day (7 Days Per Week) Completion Bonus: $150/month Pay Frequency: Weekly Night Shift: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM | Monday-Saturday | 6x12s Approximately 72 Hours Per Week Why This Opportunity? Join a contractor supporting a critical two-week shutdown and equipment replacement project at an active mining facility in Silver City, NM. This role will provide dedicated night-shift safety oversight for the removal and replacement of a primary gyratory crusher. The project involves demolition, heavy crane and rigging operations, mechanical equipment installation, energy isolation, confined space hazards, elevated work, and contractor coordination within an active mining environment. This is an excellent short-term opportunity for an experienced mining safety professional who understands the pace and complexity of shutdown/outage work and is comfortable overseeing high-risk heavy industrial activities under MSHA requirements. Required Qualifications Current MSHA Part 48 Training OSHA 30 Certification Current First Aid/CPR Certification Mining safety experience Shutdown and/or outage experience Heavy rigging and crane operations experience Strong Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and hazardous-energy control experience Preferred Qualifications Crusher replacement or fixed-plant mining equipment experience Primary gyratory crusher experience Heavy mechanical equipment installation experience Critical lift and complex rigging experience Mining plant maintenance or mill shutdown experience CHST, ASP, CSP, or other BCSP credential What You'll Be Doing Provide dedicated night-shift safety oversight throughout the crusher replacement outage Maintain a highly visible field presence during all high-risk work activities Monitor demolition and removal of existing crusher components Oversee heavy crane, rigging, lifting, and material handling operations Support safe installation, alignment, and assembly of the new primary gyratory crusher Monitor mechanical equipment installation and commissioning support activities Ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and stored-energy isolation procedures Monitor confined space entry and permit-required activities Oversee work-at-height and fall protection requirements Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), lift plans, permits, and pre-task plans Monitor contractor compliance with MSHA regulations and site-specific safety requirements Conduct routine inspections, audits, field observations, and risk assessments Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation as needed Maintain required safety documentation, reports, inspections, and compliance records Coordinate closely with field supervision, craft personnel, and contractors throughout the outage Technical Knowledge Candidates should have working knowledge of: MSHA Part 48 Requirements Mining & Fixed-Plant Safety Shutdown & Outage Safety Management Primary Gyratory Crusher Replacement Heavy Industrial Demolition Crane & Heavy Rigging Operations Critical & Complex Lift Planning Mechanical Equipment Installation Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Stored & Hazardous Energy Isolation Confined Space Entry Work at Heights & Fall Protection Fixed Mining Equipment & Material Handling Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) & Pre-Task Planning Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis Contractor Safety Management Commissioning & Startup Safety Awareness What Success Looks Like The ideal candidate is a highly experienced, field-focused mining safety professional who can quickly integrate into a fast-paced shutdown environment and confidently oversee high-risk activities during a critical equipment replacement.
