RN Labor and Delivery

The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) for the night shift is responsible for providing skilled nursing care in the Labor & Delivery unit, including Post-Partum and Baby Unit. The role requires flexibility to float to other units and support overflow from the Progressive Care Unit. The RN will perform patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a critical access hospital setting. Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns.
• Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and administer medications as prescribed.
• Assist with labor and delivery procedures and newborn care.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
• Float to other hospital units as needed, including Progressive Care Unit, to manage patient overflow.
• Document patient care activities and maintain accurate medical records.
• Educate patients and families regarding postpartum care, newborn care, and discharge instructions.
• Respond to emergencies and provide critical care support when required.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Vermont.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, preferably in Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, or related specialty.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, critical care environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
• Current BLS certification.

• Experience in Progressive Care or Critical Access Hospital settings.
• Additional certifications related to obstetric or neonatal nursing.
• Experience with interdisciplinary team collaboration in acute care settings.

• Night shift position requiring flexibility to float between units.
• Work environment includes Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, Baby Unit, and Progressive Care Unit.
• Must be able to respond to emergencies and provide critical care support.

• Night shift schedule with assigned hours as determined by hospital staffing needs.
• May require availability for additional shifts or floating as needed.
