Job Summary The Convenience Store Team Member plays a vital role in delivering excellent customer service and ensuring efficient daily store operations. This position requires a friendly, dependable, and detail‑oriented individual who can multitask in a fast‑paced retail environment. Team members are responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked store while providing prompt and courteous service to all customers. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Duties & Responsibilities Greets customers warmly and assists with product selection and inquiries. Responds appropriately to customer issues. Demonstrates and explains merchandise, suggesting options suitable for the customer’s needs. Assists customers with purchase decisions. Answers customer’s questions about merchandise. Uses suggestive selling techniques to upsell featured items, boost store sales and promote store specials and loyalty programs. Accurately operates cash register or point of sale devices. Collects and processes cash, credit and digital payments using the store point of sale system. Handles refunds, exchanges and voids transactions according to company policy. Maintains awareness of loss prevention and theft prevention procedures. Follows all state and federal regulations for gas, alcohol, tobacco and lottery sales. Stocks shelves, coolers and displays to ensure products are readily available. Assists with inventory counts and receiving deliverables. Rotates merchandise following FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures. Checks expiration dates and removes outdated products. Maintains cleanliness of sales floor, restrooms, food prep areas and exterior. Follows food safety and sanitation guidelines when preparing food or beverages. Ensures compliance with safety regulations and store policies. Reports equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly. Collaborates with team members to maintain smooth shift operations. Adapts to flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends and holidays. Prompt and regular attendance on required shifts. Maintains a clean and polished appearance. Adheres to uniform and dress code policies. Supports management with daily, operational tasks. Follows opening and closing procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Excellent active listening skills. Ability to learn quickly. Excellent sales and customer service skills. Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to anticipate customers’ needs and resolve customer issues with tact. Ability to operate or to quickly learn the store’s point‑of‑sale system. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous retail experience preferred. On‑the‑job training provided. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the retail space. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. #J-18808-Ljbffr
