Adjunct Instructor - Electrical/Industrial/Construction Safety Title: Adjunct Instructor - Electrical/Industrial/Construction Safety Hours Per Week: Up to 30 Hours Compensation Type: PT Faculty-Pay Based on PT Salary Schedule Job Summary Adjunct positions are filled by semester on an as‑needed basis. Applicants in this pool are reviewed when the department has an immediate need. Review of applications stops for the semester once the vacancy has been filled. Lansing Community College’s Technical Careers Division offers over 30 innovative program areas. Several disciplines in the Trades Technology Department, including the Electrical Technology Program (ELTE), share a 100‑level course in Industrial/Construction Safety. This course covers safety in the industrial workplace and on construction sites, as well as local, state and federal safety regulations. The focus is on accident prevention and correct response if an accident occurs. First‑aid, CPR/AED and OSHA‑30 certificates are awarded to students upon successful completion of the course. Teaching assignments may include daytime and/or evening hours. Regular on‑campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Final candidates will undergo a criminal background check as part of the employment process. Required Qualifications Two (2) years’ experience in a relevant industry field. Possession of an OSHA 10‑hour/30‑hour Trainer Certification or the ability to obtain one within one semester of hire and before being assigned a section to teach. For those pursuing the OSHA Trainer Certificate: Five (5) years’ experience in general industry safety. A college degree in occupational safety and health, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation may substitute for two years of experience. Completion of OSHA course #511 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry) or OSHA #510 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Construction). Completion of OSHA course #501 (Trainer Course in OSHA Standards). These two courses must be completed before the trainer class can be taken. Applicants with foreign education credentials must submit a credential evaluation from an approved NACES member. Submitted, unofficial copies of transcripts are required if a degree is needed for the position.
