Accountant (Part Time, Benefitted)

The City of Orinda is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative accounting professional to join our Administrative Services team as a part-time Accountant working approximately 20 hours per week. This position provides key support to the Senior Accountant and plays an important role in maintaining the City’s financial integrity through accurate recordkeeping, reporting, and analysis. What You’ll Do Under general direction, the Accountant performs a variety of professional-level accounting duties in support of the City’s financial operations. Performing day-to-day accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger review Supporting accounts payable and payroll processing to ensure accuracy and compliance Reviewing financial transactions for proper coding and available budget Preparing financial reports, summaries, and supporting documentation Assisting with budget monitoring, expenditure tracking, and fiscal analysis Participating in the file preparation of required State and Federal financial reports Assisting with audits, special projects, and process improvements Maintaining and reconciling fixed asset records, including depreciation tracking Why Join Orinda? Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field Two (2) years of professional accounting experience Public sector experience is desirable California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record Ability to work in a standard office environment and ability to travel to different sites and locations.
