Senior Software Engineer (Remote)

Job Overview BBN Technologies (BBN) is seeking a cybersecurity researcher to develop exploits, implants, and payloads for offensive cyberspace operations. The role involves designing prototype software, integrating with open‑source technologies, and collaborating with a small team of world‑class colleagues. Responsibilities Work with a small team on cutting‑edge research and development projects. Design and develop prototype software using the latest open‑source technologies. Receive and incorporate feedback from end users, field tests, and exercises. Explore technical possibilities collaboratively with motivated, world‑class colleagues. Deliver practical solutions to complex problems. Provide on‑site support to customer environments in San Diego, CA or Honolulu, HI. Travel 10–15% as required. Qualifications BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field plus 5 years of related experience, or MS plus 3 years, or PhD graduate. Significant experience with Java, Linux, computer networking, and cloud integration. Experience with distributed systems, cybersecurity, and middleware. Experience working in a self‑directed manner as part of a team. Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship required. Preferred Qualifications Creative problem solving and experimental design. Strong oral and written communication skills. Prior military experience or experience working within the DOW.
