Respiratory Therapist (Reg)The Respiratory Therapist (Reg) performs both therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care services necessary to improve and/or maintain an adequate oxygenation/acid-base balance. The Therapist will develop and collaborate patient care with healthcare staff and physicians. The Therapist will practice compliance with standard policies and procedures.Job DescriptionProvides respiratory care to patients for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes:Develops, implements, and/or adjusts orders based on patient assessment and patient response to therapyProvides scheduled and emergency therapy and/or diagnostic tests to patients/clients per policy and standard proceduresMaintains accountability for patient care delegated or scheduled to othersCommunicates patient/family health care needs to the appropriate health care provider:Provides accurate and timely documentation in patient care records per policy and standard proceduresCommunicates directly with appropriate health care team as neededParticipates in team conferences and/or care coordination activities as neededResponsibilitiesProvides respiratory care to patients for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes:Evaluates and performs respiratory therapy and diagnostic procedures based on patient assessment and/or input from healthcare team membersProvides scheduled and emergency therapy and diagnostic test to patientsAlters plan of care based on ongoing assessments and patient response to therapyEnsures efficient, quality patient outcomes through the implementation of the plan of care and effective use of all available resourcesCommunicates health care needs with patient, family, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal care:Assures daily accurate, concise reporting, and documentation of patients' condition and needs with appropriate follow-upParticipates in team conferences and care coordination activities as neededCommunicates health care needs with patient and family as appropriate for continuance of careProvides a culture of safety in order to maintain a positive patient care experience:Promotes culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, and documentationMaintains hospital standards for a clean and quiet patient environment to maintain a positive patient care experienceMaintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practiceAdheres to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage proceduresMaintains compliance with organization's policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standardsQualificationsRequired Qualifications:Education: Graduate of an accredited school for respiratory therapy/technicianLicensure: Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist.
