Food Service Worker

Works under immediate supervision and performs work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility involving the preparation and serving of food to school children and participates in cleaning of equipment and facilities, and does related tasks as required and needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Able to understand and carry out basic kitchen instructions
• Must be able to lift 35 lbs. frequently, 35+ lbs. with assistance
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

Essential Function/Job Duties

• Report to Manager
• Assist in preparation of menu items and prepares cafeteria service area
• Serve students and staff from the cafeteria service area
• Clean work tables, walls, floors, refrigerators, counters, and equipment
• Perform duties in the dish room including scraping, racking, pre-rinsing dishes, flatware, and washing pots and pans
• Responsible for operating, cleaning, and disassembling the dish machine
• Maintain the trash and garbage collection area in a neat and sanitary fashion
• Responsible for knowing and following the safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities if the job as provided by the Production Unit Manager
• Follow proper personal hygiene procedures that are necessary for the safe and sanitary handling of food
• Establish and maintain satisfactory, respectful working relationships within the school environment
• Perform other duties as assigned
