Our organization is in search of a Board Eligible/Board Certified Hematology/Oncology Medical Director to join our team in Modesto, CA.
We are a thriving multi-specialty group with over 600 clinicians, situated approximately two hours east of San Francisco. Our communities provide convenient access to the Bay Area and popular destinations such as Napa Valley, Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe.
A new cancer center is currently being constructed in Modesto as part of a significant investment in the region. This presents a unique opportunity to establish a cohesive and high-performing oncology service line across our service areas in Modesto, Stockton, and Tracy.
With a solid foundation already in place, including 8 medical oncologists and 5 radiation oncologists, we are well-equipped to expand. We are seeking a physician leader who can integrate these resources into a coordinated, competitive cancer program, address coverage gaps, and represent the program as the new facility opens.
Position Overview:
Base salary starting at $600,000
Salary guarantee provided
Potential for RVU bonuses during the salary guarantee period
Transition to RVU-based compensation model in the second year
Sign-on bonus available
0.75 FTE dedicated to clinical Hematology/Oncology and 0.25 FTE for Medical Director responsibilities
Opportunity to teach and mentor internal medicine residents at a local hospital residency program
4.5-day work week
Onsite support from Radiation Oncologists, Breast Surgeons, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, financial navigators, and cancer navigators
Multi-specialty facility with lab, urgent care, and radiology services available
Stable and expanding group
EHR system: Epic
Lead and organize the oncology service line, integrating medical oncology, radiation oncology, and surgical oncology into a cohesive program.
Collaborate with leadership to align oncology strategies with the development and launch of the new cancer center and ambulatory surgery center.
Oversee physician recruitment for the service line, with an immediate focus on filling the gynecologic oncology gap (currently no coverage; targeting 2-3 physicians).
Establish and chair a multidisciplinary tumor board covering various oncology specialties.
Drive quality and accreditation strategies for a comprehensive community cancer program.
Act as a visible and credible clinical leader, representing the program to referring physicians, hospital leadership, and the community.
Work with operations and finance leadership on growth planning and capital priorities related to the new facility.
Support and mentor the existing medical and radiation oncology teams, promoting a collaborative culture.
Represent our organization at the system Cancer Service Line level, engaging in system-wide decisions regarding oncology strategy and program development.
Qualifications:
MD or DO, board-certified in Medical Oncology (Hematology/Oncology background also considered).
Established reputation as a clinical and program leader in oncology, with the ability to attract top talent.
Experience in building or leading a multidisciplinary cancer program or service line is highly preferred.
Proven ability to collaborate with both employed and independent surgical specialists.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with hospital administration and community physicians.
Active or eligible for California medical licensure.
