Accounting Manager

Reports To: Senior Vice President / General Manager Position Summary The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the accounting department and overseeing daily accounting operations to ensure accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective financial controls. This position manages accounting personnel, supports company leadership with financial analysis and reporting, and ensures the efficient operation of accounting and administrative processes. Key Responsibilities Lead, direct, and manage the accounting team, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Senior Accounting personnel. Develop and support the accounting team through training, coaching, and ongoing performance guidance. Ensure accounting practices and general company procedures comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Oversee the preparation and completion of monthly and year-end financial reporting. Maintain and update the company’s cost accounting system. Prepare monthly customer pricing information and communicate pricing updates to the Sales Department. Maintain the general ledger and prepare monthly journal entries. Manage the finished-goods inventory system and coordinate physical inventory activities. Prepare both union and non-union payrolls. Participate in monthly financial reviews with the Senior Vice President / General Manager. Oversee broker and customer bill-backs, including billing, collections, and preparation of accounts receivable schedules. Manage banking and cash-management activities, including ACH payments and online invoice payments. Support the efficient and effective operation of the headquarters office. Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, quality, and accountability. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; a minimum of five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong mathematical and financial aptitude. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work effectively with employees and leadership at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated sound judgment, discretion, and decision-making ability. Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and payroll information. Supervisory Responsibilities Direct supervision of accounting department personnel and applicable office staff. Physical and Work Environment Requirements Ability to perform routine office activities, including computer work and use of standard office equipment. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment, handle documents, and perform other routine administrative tasks. Ability to work in an office environment and maintain a professional, organized, and safe workspace.
