Social Media & Digital Communications Intern August 18, 2026 Tennessee Education Association (TEA) Compensation: $3,000 stipend for the semester The Tennessee Education Association (TEA) is seeking a creative, motivated Social Media & Digital Communications Intern to join our Communications team for the semester. The intern will report to the Communications Manager. This paid internship offers an opportunity to gain real-world experience creating content for a statewide nonprofit organization that advocates for public education. The selected intern will help develop graphics, produce short-form video, contribute to social media strategy, and tell the stories of Tennessee's educators, students, and public schools. What You’ll Do Working alongside TEA's communications staff, you'll help: Design engaging graphics using Canva and other creative tools. Capture behind-the-scenes photos and video at TEA events and activities. Edit short-form videos for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social platforms. Develop compelling social media content that supports advocacy campaigns, member engagement, professional development, and organizational initiatives. Draft, schedule, and publish content using TEA's social media management platform. Monitor comments and direct messages, helping foster positive engagement with members and followers while escalating inquiries when appropriate. Research emerging social media trends, popular audio, hashtags, and best practices to keep TEA's content fresh and relevant. Monitor peer organizations and identify opportunities to strengthen TEA's digital presence. Track social media performance, including engagement, follower growth, reach, and website traffic, and assist with preparing analytics reports. Assist in planning and executing social media campaigns from concept through publication. Maintain TEA's visual identity and brand standards across digital platforms. What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who is Currently enrolled in a program in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, digital media, graphic design, or a related field. An excellent writer with strong attention to detail. Comfortable creating graphics and visual content. Familiar with major social media platforms and current trends. Creative, organized, dependable, and eager to learn. Passionate about storytelling and using digital media to make an impact. Experience with Canva, Adobe Express, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar creative tools is preferred. Photography and video editing experience are a plus.
