Job Title: Accounting Specialist Full Time position - 40 hours per week Starting Pay Rate: $51,750 - $57,000 a year.Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, LTD, and 401(k)Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm JOB PURPOSEThe Accounting Specialist is responsible for providing accounting support to accountants and accounting supervisory staff within the department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIESKey in resales of unit ownership into Key in Mutual receiptsKey in Trust receiptsPrepare and process owner refundsReapply payments as necessaryComplete monthly delinquency processPerform AP and AR duties as necessaryServe as the Accounts Receivable backupAssist with other duties in the departmentFilingPrepare and maintain accounting documents and records, and researching discrepanciesPrepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements, including remote deposit, which involves sorting out mail, matching coupons and making a batch for depositReconcile accountsEnter key data of financial transactions in data base dailyCompile and sort invoices and checks, processes invoices for payment and checks for depositIssue checks for accounts payable and mails them out Record business transactions and keys daily worksheets to general ledger systemInput type vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other recordsMatch invoices to checks for signatureUtilize computer systems to run databases, pay bills and order suppliesCoordinate customer acceptance of paymentAssist Accountants with resident communications, including payment coupons and mailingsDistribute association financials and delinquency reportsMonthly shredding of confidential documents and checksCustomer service including assisting residents and AccountantsPerforms other accounting and clerical functions to support department as requiredAll other duties as assigned.EDUCATIONHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) - RequiredAssociates Degree (two years of college or technical school) in accounting, finance, business administration or related field with 2-4 years of experienceBachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field, with 0-2 years of experience. YEARS AND TYPE OF EXPERIENCEBachelor's Degree with 0-2 years of experience or Associates Degree with 2-4 years of experience. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as spreadsheets, balance sheets, invoices, and correspondence. Ability to write routine reports and correspondenceAbility to make and verify computations with accuracy, to compile statistical data and prepare routine reports and to work under time constraints Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentagesAbility to interact and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with community residents and outside organizations and agencies at various levelsAbility to resolve problems in a courteous and professional mannerAbility to take care of customers' needs while following company proceduresAbility to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted and paying attention to the minute details of a project or taskAbility to use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, set up functions, enter data, or process informationHigh level of accuracy and attention to detailKnowledge of accounting terms, principles, and processesKnowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulationsKnowledge and experience with accounting computer applicationsWorking knowledge of Jenark accounting software - PreferredProficient in EXCEL, WORDProficient in use of 10 key adding machine.We can offer you a challenging and rewarding environment with many opportunities to learn, grow and achieve great results.
