About the Position

Caring for patients with solid tumor cancers throughout their cancer journey. Common diagnoses include breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, colon cancer, and esophageal cancer. Assistance with issues related to chemotherapy treatments, including infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention. Staffing ratios aim for a goal of 1:4, although this may occasionally extend to 1:5. Weekends are variable based on the needs of the unit. Floating may be required to other medical-surgical oncology units. The position includes a mix of day and night shifts based on departmental needs. Shift assignments will be reviewed every four-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed. The unit focuses on providing care from new diagnosis through treatment to end-of-life care. Heavy emphasis on safety protocols and management of true medical-surgical issues. Skills required include telemetry monitoring and interpretation. Certifications in chemotherapy administration are preferred. Candidates must have current and consistent acute care experience in the specialty area. Professional references are required, with at least one from a managerial or supervisory role.
