Travel Ultrasound Technologist

Location: Hyannis, MA 02601
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks, with possibility of extension
Schedule: 40 hours/week
Working Days: Wednesday–Saturday
Shift:

• Wednesday: 12:30 PM–11:00 PM
• Thursday–Saturday: 8:30 PM–7:00 AM

Weekly Pay: $2,300–$2,850/week, based on experience

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Travel Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in a hospital/clinical setting. The ideal candidate will have strong technical and patient-care skills, current ARDMS credentials in Abdomen and OB/GYN , and current BLS certification .

The technologist will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to obtain high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety, comfort, privacy, and dignity.

Primary Responsibilities

• Set up and prepare ultrasound equipment and examination rooms.
• Review physician orders and department protocols to verify the appropriate examination.
• Prepare and position patients appropriately for ultrasound examinations.
• Select the appropriate transducer type and frequency for each examination.
• Obtain and review relevant patient history and clinical information.
• Explain examination procedures clearly and answer patient questions.
• Provide appropriate physical and emotional support throughout examinations.
• Perform ultrasound examinations according to established protocols and professional standards.
• Evaluate images for technical quality, completeness, and diagnostic adequacy.
• Obtain additional or repeat images when necessary.
• Accurately label and document images and maintain radiology records.
• Assist physicians with specialized ultrasound procedures, including needle biopsies and other image-guided procedures.
• Maintain adequate supplies and coordinate equipment maintenance or repair when needed.
• Complete required departmental documentation and forms.
• Organize daily work activities to support productivity and efficient patient flow.
• Provide clinical and/or didactic instruction to ultrasound students when assigned.
• Follow hospital and departmental policies, including emergency, fire, and disaster procedures.
• Maintain compliance with infection prevention and control policies.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
• Maintain professional and ethical relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and protect patient information.
• Demonstrate excellent patient service and professionalism.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography/Ultrasound Technology program .
• Current ARDMS registration/credentialing required.
• Current ARDMS credentials in:
  • Abdomen
  • OB/GYN
• Current BLS certification required.
• All licenses, certifications, registrations, and credentials must remain active throughout the assignment.
• Strong knowledge of ultrasound equipment and imaging techniques.
• Knowledge of patient care and infection-control practices.
• Strong understanding of hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Excellent patient-care skills.
• Ability to work effectively with physicians, healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
