Status: 20 hours per week

Ready to make a real difference in patient care? Here's what you'll be doing in this exciting Blood Bank role:

Day-to-Day Impact:

• Master the art of ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening and identification—the detective work that keeps blood transfusions safe and effective
• Handle product receipt, shipment, and issuance with precision and care, ensuring every unit is tracked and accounted for
• Process approximately 6,000 samples monthly while maintaining stellar quality and documentation standards (yes, we keep things organized!)
• Partner with providers and healthcare teams to solve problems and meet patient needs—collaboration is our superpower
• Leverage cutting-edge equipment like TEG and Werfen Neo Iris to deliver accurate, timely results
• Contribute to our LEAN environment by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation
• Own validation and documentation of maintenance tasks, keeping our lab running like a well-oiled machine

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Coursework must align with duties of the specific section Medical Laboratory discipline position and meet the education Eligibility Routes for Medical Laboratory Scientist listed on the ASCP website at (ascp.org)
  • OR possesses a categorical scientist level certification as a BB, C, CG, CT, M, MB
  • OR has met the requirements for AAB and/or AMT certifications. Requires six months of experience in a medical laboratory setting.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge sufficient to perform laboratory functions are required.
• Certification at the technologist, or medical/clinical lab scientist level from a nationally recognized agency, such as ASCP, AMT, ASM, AAB, AABB, ACS, or HEW is preferred.
