Medical Support Assistant (MSA) - Radiology Responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate patient appointments for all radiology modalities including CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, interventional procedures, and general radiography
• Perform patient check-in and check-out procedures; verify patient identity, insurance information, and appointment details using VA information systems (VISTA, CPRS)
• Answer phones, respond to inquiries from patients and clinical staff, and route calls and messages appropriately
• Enter and manage radiology orders, requisitions, and referrals in the Radiology Information System (RIS); cancel and edit exams as directed
• Maintain patient records and ensure accurate data entry of demographic and clinical information
• Coordinate with clinical staff and radiologists to manage workflow, prioritize urgent exams, and minimize patient wait times
• Prepare and process correspondence, reports, and administrative documents for the Radiology Service
• Maintain file room operations including mailing records, printing film, and burning CDs as required
• Monitor and order office supplies and ensure adequate stock levels for administrative operations
• Assist with quality assurance data collection and reporting as directed by the Radiology Service leadership

Medical Support Assistant (MSA) - Radiology Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or medical administrative training preferred
• Minimum 1 year of medical administrative or clerical experience, preferably in a healthcare or radiology setting
• Proficiency with medical scheduling systems, electronic health records, and standard office software
• Familiarity with VA information systems (VISTA, CPRS) preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
• VA or federal healthcare experience preferred but not required

Monday Friday, 7:30 AM 4:00 PM. Overtime and on-call may be required as assigned.
