Sales Design Consultant

, Carolina Home Exteriors (CHE) is seeking a Home Improvement Sales Consultant who can assist us in continuing our growth and success in our beautiful, sunny beach location in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the Grand Strand’s most respected home improvement companies. Our top-producing Sales Consultants earn $120,000 - $150,000+ annually.

Position Summary

As our Design Consultant , you will meet with homeowners in their homes, learn their goals, and recommend practical outdoor living and home improvement solutions. The role owns the sales process from consultation and design through contract and a complete handoff to production, while representing CHE in the community and our showroom.

The ideal candidate is goal-oriented, income-driven, enthusiastic, and has excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and unwavering confidence. Success in this role means meeting minimum company expectations for monthly sales, closing rate, timely completion of accurate, profitable contracts, same-day CRM updates, and customer satisfaction that generates reviews, referrals, and repeat business

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Meet with homeowners to assess needs, measure the project area, present suitable designs and products, answer objections, and earn a clear decision on each opportunity.

· Prepare accurate pricing, contracts, specifications, and deposit records so the agreed scope and sale amount match the customer’s expectations and CHE’s requirements.

· Ensure accurate sales information for signed documents, photographs, measurements, diagrams, product selections, and site details so production can plan without avoidable rework

· Follow up promptly with company leads, self-generated prospects, referrals, and trade partners; record activity and next steps in the company sales system to prevent opportunities from being missed.

· Prospect surrounding markets and participate in community events and professional relationships to produce qualified appointments and strengthen CHE’s local visibility.

· Ensure a consistent eight-step milestone selling process: preparation, rapport, survey, purpose, company, product, price, and closing so homeowners receive accurate recommendations and a consistent CHE Education First Promise experience.

· Maintain current knowledge of sunrooms, screen and pool enclosures, porches, patios, pergolas, windows, doors, and related products to recommend solutions that fit the home and budget.

· Assist walk-in showroom visitors between field appointments and provide a consistent consultation experience that advances qualified prospects to appointments or proposals.

· Coordinate with production and attend weekly sales and production meetings to resolve design, scope, price, and scheduling questions before project handoff.

· Identify unusual site conditions, customer concerns, scope changes, and pricing exceptions; escalate them for approval before promising work or releasing the job to production.

· Contact homeowners after project completion to confirm satisfaction, address concerns through the appropriate team, and request referrals or reviews when appropriate.

· Follow CHE sales, documentation, and customer service procedures to support profitable projects, accurate forecasts, and a high-quality homeowner experience.

· Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor to support sales and customer service outcomes.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Schedule : Full-time, with flexibility for homeowner appointments, occasional evening or weekend events, showroom coverage, and local travel.

License or certification : Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for assigned travel; reliable transportation required.

Experience: Three to five years of outside or in-home sales or project estimating preferred; residential remodeling or construction experience strongly preferred.

Technical skills : Measure accurately with a tape measure; calculate dimensions and prices; prepare proposals and basic project diagrams; use CRM tools and Microsoft Word and Excel.

Communication and organization : Listen actively, ask useful discovery questions, explain design options clearly, and maintain accurate records and follow-up commitments.

Judgment and teamwork: Work independently, prioritize appointments and deadlines, coordinate production, and seek approval for exceptions and commitments outside authority.

Physical requirements: Travel to and walk job sites, use stairs, take measurements, present samples, work at a computer, and lift or carry materials or equipment up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
