Job Title Graduate Assistant: Researcher- Higher Education & Learning Technologies Agency East Texas A&M University Department Higher Ed & Learning Tech Position Summary The Department of Higher Education and Learning Technologies at Texas A&M University-Commerce seeks to hire Graduate Assistant Researchers (GAR) for the 2026–2027 academic year. Graduate Assistant Researchers will support faculty research, program assessment, data collection and analysis, literature reviews, grant-related activities, and departmental initiatives related to higher education, leadership, learning technologies, and educator preparation. This position provides graduate students with valuable research experience while contributing to the advancement of departmental scholarship and student success initiatives. Compensation Proposed Minimum Salary $888.89 monthly Compensation $ 4K a semester Position Details Job Title: Graduate Assistant Researcher (GAR) Department: Higher Education and Learning Technologies Position Type: On-Campus Student Employment Location: Department of Higher Education and Learning Technologies 2600 Neal Street Commerce, Texas 75428 Schedule: Part-Time Hours: 20 hours per week Employment Period: Temporary Academic Appointment Start Date: September 1, 2026 End Date: May 30, 2027 Number of Positions Available: 2 Essential Responsibilities Conducting literature reviews and synthesizing scholarly research. Assisting with qualitative and quantitative research activities. Collecting, organizing, and maintaining research data. Supporting survey development, administration, and analysis. Assisting with data entry, coding, and interpretation using research software and technology tools. Preparing reports, presentations, and research summaries. Supporting grant development and grant-funded project activities. Assisting with conference proposals, publications, and scholarly presentations. Participating in program evaluation and assessment activities. Maintaining research records while adhering to university policies and ethical research standards. Providing general support for departmental research initiatives and special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Be admitted to or enrolled in a graduate program at East Texas A&M University. Hold a bachelor's degree prior to the start date of employment. Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate organizational skills and attention to detail. Be capable of working independently and collaboratively in a professional environment. Maintain eligibility for graduate assistant employment in accordance with university policies. Preferred Qualifications Prior research experience in educational settings. Experience conducting literature reviews and academic writing. Knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint). Familiarity with data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, NVivo, Qualtrics, Power BI, or similar tools). Experience working in higher education environments. Strong project management and organizational abilities. Learning Outcomes Develop research and analytical skills. Gain experience with educational research methodologies. Collaborate with faculty on scholarly projects. Strengthen academic writing and presentation skills. Build professional competencies applicable to careers in higher education, research, educational leadership, and learning technologies. These roles help students gain hands-on experience in a professional setting. May work up to 19 hours per week while classes are in session. May work full-time during breaks and summer if enrolled for the upcoming fall. Must not work during scheduled class times. Open to all actively enrolled students regardless of financial aid status. Students do not need to be enrolled during summer if they plan to return in the fall. Work-study positions are need-based jobs funded through federal or state financial aid programs and allow students to earn money to help pay for educational expenses. Must be awarded federal or state work-study through Financial Aid. May work up to 19 hours per week during the semester. May work full-time during breaks and summer if returning in the fall. Must not work during scheduled class times. Positions are limited to the amount awarded and must follow program guidelines. Graduate Assistantship Requirements Graduate assistantships offer opportunities to teach, conduct research, or assist in academic departments while continuing your graduate education.
