Emergency Room Nurse Responsibilities & Duties

• Perform triage and prioritize patient care based on severity
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
• Monitor patient vital signs and document medical information
• Collaborate with doctors, specialists, and healthcare team members
• Provide wound care and emergency medical interventions
• Prepare patients for surgeries, procedures, and diagnostic tests
• Educate patients and their families about medical conditions and treatments
• Maintain a sterile and safe working environment
• Respond to life-saving situations using nursing standards and protocols
• Assist in the management of patient admissions and discharges
• Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families
• Conduct ongoing assessments and reassessments of patient conditions
• Ensure accurate and detailed patient records and reports
• Perform diagnostic tests, such as EKGs and blood draws
• Handle administrative tasks, including ordering supplies and maintaining equipment

Emergency Room Nurse Qualifications & Skills

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Triage nurse training
• Experience in a high-volume emergency room
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Experience with critical care or trauma nursing
• Familiarity with hospital policies and procedures
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or equivalent
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Ability to handle high-stress situations
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Compassionate and patient-oriented approach
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods
• Familiarity with medical equipment and emergency procedures
