Respiratory Therapist

Pay Range The base pay range for this position is $34.75–$52.49 per hour. The offered compensation may vary based on knowledge, skills, and experience. Hours, FLSA Compliance 12‑hour day shifts; 36‑hour non‑exempt work week. Job Summary The Respiratory Therapist administers therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care modalities and life support to patients with deficiencies or abnormalities of the cardiorespiratory system, under physician supervision and by prescription. Qualifications Graduate from an AMA‑approved, JRCRTE accredited Respiratory Care Program. Two or more years of acute‑care respiratory care experience preferred. BLS and PALS certifications required within 30 days of hire. ACLS and NRP certifications required. Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Washington and CRT through the NBRC. Eligible to serve neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, young adult, middle‑age, and elderly populations. Essential Functions Planning and Prioritizing Patient Care Apply respiratory therapy protocol to plan care during hospitalization and before discharge. Reprioritize therapy and modify procedures based on patient response. Information Gathering Review and interpret data in the patient record (history, labs, radiology, progress notes, monitoring). Assess cardiopulmonary status via auscultation and physical inspection. Decision‑Making Determine appropriateness of therapy and contribute to respiratory care plan modifications. Communication Initiate and participate in communication to assure effective delivery of respiratory care. Communicate with patients and significant others respectfully. Technical Proficiency Maintain skills in low‑volume, high‑risk activities. Learn new techniques and use new equipment; troubleshoot equipment malfunctions. Teamwork Share relevant information with the healthcare team. Resolve team issues constructively. Quality Identify areas for quality improvement. Perform quality control on diagnostic equipment, ventilators, and gas metering devices. Outcome Focus Initiate, conduct, and modify therapeutic procedures to achieve desired outcomes. Personal Education Engage in ongoing education to maintain competency. Identify self‑improvement areas and pursue required education. Work Effectiveness Work independently to accomplish tasks in a timely manner. Promptly deliver therapeutic modalities after orders.
