Student Assistant - University Recreation Personal Trainer

Overview The University Recreation Personal Trainer is responsible for providing individualized fitness instruction and training services to students, faculty, and staff. Trainers design and implement customized workout programs, lead one-on-one sessions, and educate clients on proper exercise techniques and overall wellness. This role emphasizes motivation, relationship-building, and creating a safe, effective training environment. All personal trainers are required to also work as Group Fitness instructors. Design and implement customized workout programs; lead one-on-one sessions; educate clients on proper exercise techniques and overall wellness. Maintain a safe training environment and motivate clients to achieve their fitness goals. Prepare to fulfill Group Fitness instructor duties as required. Required Qualifications Current University of West Georgia student Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Ability to demonstrate exercises and movements effectively Ability to lift and move fitness equipment as needed Ability to stand for extended periods Preferred Qualifications Previous personal training experience (preferred but not required) Personal Training Certification (e.g., ACE, NASM) required or obtained within 6 months CPR/AED certification required or obtained within 3 months Strong communication and interpersonal skills Required Documents to Attach Resume Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to build rapport and maintain client relationships Strong understanding of exercise programming and progression Willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback Self-motivated and goal-oriented Ability to work independently and as part of a team USG Core Values The University System of Georgia emphasizes Integrity, Excellence, Accountability, and Respect.
