Behavioral Health Outreach Technician

Overview Work with riders in an innovative project among Chestnut Health Systems, Bi-State Transit, and St. Clair County Transit District. This is a full-time, team-oriented position in a non-clinical setting which may require evening, midnight, and weekend hours. This is a full-time, team-oriented position in a non-clinical setting which may require evening, midnight, and weekend hours. Responsibilities Work on a MetroLink train or transfer station in Illinois or Missouri. Collaborate with MetroLink Ambassadors, Metro Transit Security, and local law enforcement. Engage riders in dialogue. Screen riders for needed services. Develop therapeutic alliances. Provide crisis assessments, counseling, and intervention. Provide situational problem solving and skill development. Transport riders to services as needed. Position centers around interactions with individuals with untreated physical, mental, and substance use issues in a non-clinical setting. Must be able to work alongside a partner for the majority of work hours. Must provide even-tempered responses to potentially volatile situations. Promote the recovery model of treatment including trauma-informed care, hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness, and spirituality/connectedness. Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; have demonstrated skills in human services and in the field of services to adults. Must also have demonstrated the ability to work within the organization structure and accept supervision, and have demonstrated the ability to work constructively with consumers, treatment resources and the community. Must have a valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance and be insurable. Requires basic computer skills and experience to include MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook and an electronic medical record. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education, experience, local market conditions, and internal equity.
