Clinical Psych Social Worker- PRN

Job Title Clinical Psych Social Worker – PRN (260000SM) Overview Responsible for social work practice under the supervision of a licensed independent clinical social worker, providing psychiatric and psychosocial assessments to children and adolescents who present in the Emergency Room and/or Inpatient Psychiatry Unit. Performs diagnostic assessment using DSM‑V criteria to determine risk and need for hospitalization and offers collaborative consultation for diagnostic and treatment planning with the attending psychiatrist. Responsibilities Conduct diagnostic assessment and evaluate patient status for suicidality or homicidality in conjunction with attending physician. Complete social histories and psychosocial assessments for the medical record on an ongoing basis. Triage patients to appropriate services and display competency when interviewing family members for assessment and intervention planning. Participate in daily rounds for treatment planning and discharge planning. Liaise with CFSA social worker to determine additional needs of children and families and plan for discharge. Plan and coordinate discharge with the treatment team and utilization management staff. Educate staff about psychosocial issues impacting patients. Conduct family therapy interventions, encouraging positive communication among family members and intervening appropriately when obstacles arise. Complete required assessment documentation in a clear, concise, and timely manner. Provide linkage services and case management; identify community resources and placements for children and families to support treatment goals. Communicate with outside agencies to ensure continuity of care and treatment progress. Qualifications Master’s Degree in Social Work (required). Graduated Social Worker (LGSW) required; LCSW or LICSW preferred. Excellent communication skills. Ability to relate to diverse patient populations. Time and attendance are vital for this position.
