Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant- Per Diem

Job Summary Urgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu‑like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. They function in lieu of or alongside a physician and must have excellent assessment skills to recognize more serious conditions and direct patients to the emergency room when necessary. The position requires a commitment of 2 shifts per month and is offered on a per diem basis. Job Requirements Education Doctor of Physician Assistant (DPA) or equivalent for Physician Assistants. Master’s Degree for Nurse Practitioners. Work Experience 2–5 years of post‑residency clinical experience. Minimum 18 months experience in an applicable practice setting. Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred. Required Licenses/Certifications National Certification (e.g., NCA, AANP). Active state medical licensure. Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting. Competence in office procedures such as suturing, splinting, and related interventions. Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Experience with Electronic Medical Records. Strong listening, communication, and customer service skills. Essential Functions Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job’s purpose and objectives. Examining and treating patients. Taking patients’ medical histories. Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X‑rays. Making diagnoses and prescribing medications. Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting. Recording progress notes for follow-up patients. Educating and counseling patients. Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients. Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care. Each provider will work an anticipated four (4), eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift as assigned. All other duties as assigned.
