Technical Sales Manager

JOB PURPOSE

The Technical Sales Manager provides technical and sales support to the Trace Aviation customer base and serves as a key interface between customers and the repair station. This role requires strong communication, customer service, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills, along with the ability to learn and communicate the company’s products, services, and repair capabilities.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions:

• Serve as a key technical and sales resource for the Trace Aviation customer base.
• Serve as a liaison between customers and the repair station to ensure technical questions and customer requirements are addressed.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
• Develop a strong understanding of the company’s products, services, repair capabilities, and customer needs.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities to increase revenue.
• Recommend appropriate repair, parts, and service solutions based on customer needs.
• Conduct sales visits, customer meetings, and presentations both on-site and off-site.
• Prepare proposals, quotations, and sales orders.
• Maintain regular communication with customers regarding products, services, capabilities, and repair requirements.
• Build a network of referrals and maintain accurate sales and customer documentation.
• Track sales activities, prospects, and business opportunities.
• Attend conferences, trade shows, customer meetings, and other business development events as required.
• Achieve established revenue and profit goals.
• Lead, mentor, and provide direction to Customer Service Representatives and junior Sales staff.
• Assist in training and developing Customer Service and Sales personnel on products, services, repair capabilities, and customer service expectations.
• Help strengthen the technical knowledge and capabilities of the Customer Service team.
• Work closely with Repair, Operations, Quality, Materials, and Customer Service to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Assist with resolving complex customer concerns, technical questions, and service issues.
• Promote professional and responsive customer service throughout the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned by department management.

Marginal Job Functions:

• Develop and deliver presentations.
• Assist with sales and customer service training.
• Maintain knowledge of industry trends, products, services, and market opportunities.
• Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other company systems.
• Provide support for special projects involving Sales, Repair, Logistics, and Customer Service.
• Perform general office and administrative functions associated with sales and customer support

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

• Will participate in and support safety initiatives, safe work practices and compliance.
• Will participate in safety activities including the following: immediately reporting hazards, unsafe work practices and accidents/injuries.
• Will follow all safety rules, FAA regulations, PPE compliance and equipment operation requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands: Requires sitting with extensive computer and phone usage. Requires standing for extended periods of time. Requires frequent walking, bending, and reaching to shoulder level. Requires occasional squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling weight up to 20 pounds. Requires repetitive hand movement. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Equipment Operated: Ability to operate office equipment, computers, phones, and other equipment necessary to perform the functions of the position.

Work Location: On-Site PAG Offices

Protective Equipment Required: None for normal office duties. PPE may be required when visiting or working within operational or repair areas.

Potential Hazards: Exposure to materials identified on Material Safety Data Sheets.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong customer service, communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills with the ability to understand customer needs and provide effective solutions. Ability to learn and communicate company products, services, and repair capabilities while providing direction and support to Customer Service and Sales staff. Strong organization, problem-solving, attention to detail, and sound judgment. Proficient in Microsoft Office and related business systems, with the ability to manage changing priorities, work independently and as part of a team, meet deadlines, and travel as required.

Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience: At least 5 years of experience in sales, customer service, business development, aviation, MRO, technical services, or a related field. Leadership or supervisory experience preferred, with experience in a technical or service-oriented environment and aviation/FAA Part 145 strongly preferred. Traditional sales experience is not required for candidates with strong customer service, communication, leadership, and business development skills.

Certificates/Licenses: Driver’s License required for company related travel

Other: Other duties may be assigned in role to support Repair and Logistics department, personnel or projects.
