CarpenterThe Carpenter constructs and repairs structural woodworks and equipment, working from blueprints, drawings, or oral instructions.Essential FunctionsInstall structures and fixturesMeasure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, and other materialsConstruct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframesHelp erect, level, and install building framework with the aid of rigging hardware and cranesBuild scaffolds and create and set forms for pouring concreteBuild tunnel bracing or partitions in underground passageways to control the circulation of air to worksitesBuild concrete forms for tunnels, bridges, power plants, or sewer constructionInspect, clean, maintain and repair equipmentKnowledge of materials, methods, and tools needed in constructionPerform daily maintenance and safety checksAbility to read and interpret blueprintsEnsure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company's safety culturePerform other duties as requested, directed, or assignedEducation and Experience RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED requiredAt least 3 years' experience as a carpenter or in civil constructionSkills / Key CompetenciesKnowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the constructionExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day informationExcellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing prioritiesAbility to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results orientedAbility to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailAbility to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlinesAbility to work non-routine hours, when necessaryAbility and willingness to travel as requiredPhysical RequirementsAbility to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areasMoving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to anotherAbility to operate job related toolsConstantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingersWork that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with helpBay Ltd. is an Equal Opportunity Employer
