Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1.5 years of relevant experience required. License: Active state RN license or compact license. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS. Must-Have: Experience in a step down or progressive care unit. CABG experience is required. EPIC experience is required. Nurses must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting the assignment. Description: This position involves caring for patients in a step down setting. The unit specializes in pre and post-operative open heart management. Patients include those undergoing CABG, valve replacement, and thoracotomy procedures. Lung conditions such as pneumothorax and hemothorax are also addressed. Nurses will manage advanced care cardiac patients with continuous telemetry. The targeted patient ratios are 1:4 to 1:6. Nurses will be expected to float to other units as needed. Candidates must be available to work every other weekend and holiday. Travelers must comply with any floating requirements per unit needs. All nurses will need to interpret EKG strips and manage cardiac drips. A detailed understanding of hemodynamic monitoring and telemetry is essential. Floating to different care units is a common requirement based on skill set and hospital census. Candidates must be comfortable with the responsibilities and expectations outlined in the job description. Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team is crucial for patient care.
