Long-Term Substitute Teacher – Middle Level – Science Position Type: Teacher – Secondary/Science Location: Downingtown Middle School, Downingtown, PA Effective Date: August 12, 2026 – January 19, 2027 Availability: Starting August 12, 2026 Job Summary Deliver clear, high quality, flexible, and appropriate content knowledge to students through planning, preparation, and engaging instructional delivery in a safe and supportive classroom environment. Provide ongoing communication and student engagement. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited college or university. Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification for Science in grades 6–9 or 7–8. Demonstrated knowledge in science content area. Positive attitude toward teaching, service to the district, and importance of education. Proficiency in use of current technology for instruction. Flexibility to vary hours to accommodate students, parents, and teachers. Effective interpersonal skills with ability to interact diplomatically with teachers, administrators, parents, students, and outside organizations. Complete and maintain all required background and criminal record checks. Adhere to all local, state, federal, and district code requirements for employment. Duties & Responsibilities Planning and preparation. Knowledge of content. Instructional delivery. Communication with stakeholders. Salary (2026–2027 School Year) Placement upon salary scale dependent upon education and years of teaching service. Schedule 7.5 hours per day based on district‑approved calendar.
