Senior Estimator (manager level, Solar)

OverviewThis position will generally lead large conceptual EPC bids where experience plays a vital role in developing a good estimate. Senior Estimators report to the Director of Estimating. ResponsibilitiesPerform complete conceptual estimates for large, complex EPC projects from receipt of bid package through final bid review, including: site visits, scope determination, Material Takeoff, input data into computerized estimating systems, questions to Owner/Engineer and qualificationsManage the available bid time to insure accurate and timely preparation of a complete estimateFunction as a team player; create an environment where other groups and individuals want to work with youUtilize ability and experience to conceptualize portions of estimateOrganize and detail the estimate so that manhours can be properly applied, easily understood for review purposes, and efficiently turned over to the field personnelDemonstrate an advanced knowledge of all aspects of Construction Estimating and consistently manage bid teams for large, complex projectsTrain and mentor Estimator I and Estimator IIsMastery of technical estimating responsibilities including lead responsibilities such as: site visits and jobsite exposure, understanding RFQ requirements, questions to owner/engineer, turnover of bid estimate to the field, etc.Mastery knowledge of discipline specific responsibilities including lead responsibilities such as: material take offs, comprehension of drawings and specifications, manhour analysis, understanding of material pricing, subcontracts, etc.May be assigned as the Lead Estimator on estimatesOther duties as assignedQualificationsEDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:High school diploma plus related training or education equivalent to a Bachelor's degreeMinimum of 7 years of construction estimating experience Knowledge of construction techniques, estimating and construction managementKnowledge of various contract types including EPC, DB and JV Experience in contract negotiationsExperience in working with a variety of vendors and clientsExperience in leading bids on a regular basisEstimating experience within large-scale Solar Renewable Energy projects is highly desiredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company’s Zero Injury principlesRead, analyze and interpret the most complex documentsRespond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaintsUse effective verbal and written communication skills.
