About the Position

Job Title: Med Tele RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Day/Night Rotate Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year in Med-Surg or Telemetry License: Required Certifications: BLS, Preferred ACLS Must-Have: 1 year experience in Med-Surg or Telemetry. Experience/knowledge of TURPS-CBI preferred. Comfortable with IV starts. Ability to float to like units and patients. Description: This position involves working in a medical telemetry unit with a total of 24 inpatient beds. There is the capacity for 10 observation or day surgeries per day. Patient-to-nurse ratios are 5:1 during the day shift and 6:1 at night. Team nursing will be used, with LPNs working under supervision. Common diagnoses include non-heart-related issues, cellulitis, urinary tract infections, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and sepsis. Experience with a small pediatric population is a plus but not mandatory for travelers. Nurses are expected to have acute care experience. There is no requirement for the RN to titrate drips. The charge nurse will have an assignment. Nurse aids are available on the unit. Hospitalist coverage is available until 6 PM daily, with telemedicine support thereafter. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Basic telemetry knowledge is expected as nurses will monitor patients during their shifts. Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours, with potential for self-scheduling but not guaranteed. Weekend rotation is mandatory every other weekend. There are holiday requirements of working 2 out of 3 holidays. Call or standby may be required. Nurses must be prepared to float to similar units as needed. Professional scrubs are required with no specific color designation. All nurses must clock in and out while working.
