Charles C Thomas Publisher, Ltd. is a family-owned publishing company that has been publishing high-quality specialty titles and textbooks in the biomedical sciences since 1927. Our publishing program also includes a strong catalog in the behavioral sciences, education and special education, speech-language and hearing, rehabilitation, and long-term care. Additionally, we are one of the largest producers of books in the fields of criminal justice and law enforcement.
We’re currently looking for an Art Department Manager to lead our creative team, manage workflows, and help drive our projects from concept to completion. We’re a collaborative team dedicated to producing high-quality print materials and digital content.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee all creative projects, from initial concept through delivery
- Review and approve designs, layouts, and final artwork for accuracy and quality
- Collaborate with internal teams to meet deadlines and business goals
- eBook file prep and upload necessary files to all eBook providers
- Customer service for customer eBook download issues
- Contact Journals to create yearly budget for advertising
- Create and upload advertising material to journals
- Create monthly statement insert in both print and Constant Contact formats
- Maintain Facebook page
- Create promotional flyers when needed
- Update Website and print catalog
- Stay organized with department scheduling, budgeting, and vendor communication
- Keep workflows efficient and up to date with current publishing standards
What You Need
Software Skills
- Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat
- Quark XPress
- Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Constant Contact
- Adobe Digital Editions
- Pocketbook software
- Comfortable working in a Mac environment
Technical Knowledge
- Ebook production and formatting experience
- Onyx platform familiarity is helpful but not required
- Some knowledge of Onyx code and file management systems is preferred (helpful for eBook and Amazon uploads, especially as platforms evolve)
