High School: Humanities Lead Teacher - Greater Boston (2026-2027) Full‑time Start Date: Next year opening Department: Teacher Lead Teacher at KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School is looking for talented, committed, and culturally competent lead teachers who will create a school experience that affirms, values, and challenges students each day. The role requires consistent and reliable demonstration of the essential job functions and key responsibilities outlined below.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Classroom Responsibilities Serve as a lead or co‑lead in one or more classrooms, including leading a class independently, co‑teaching, short‑ or long‑term coverage, or stepping into a lead role later in the year based on school needs. Ensure that all children are affirmed, valued, and challenged every day. Foster a positive and safe learning environment. Prepare and internalize rigorous, engaging unit and daily lessons, leveraging provided curricula/resources and intellectual preparation tools. When applicable, create academically aligned lesson plans, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments. Set specific, ambitious growth goals with all students and leverage necessary resources to achieve them. Innovate best practices to deliver differentiated instruction that is rigorous for all students. Implement aligned school‑wide or grade‑level student culture systems and proactive classroom management strategies. Regularly analyze student work and academic data to refine lessons, curricula, and instructional practice. Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date student grades and records and maintain strong communication with students and families regarding growth and progress. School and Professional Responsibilities Participate in school‑wide and individual professional development, including pre‑service training over the summer and weekly training during the academic year. Take ownership for the development of your craft by seeking and implementing feedback from your coach and collaborating with teammates within and beyond school‑designated structures. Perform assigned duties such as classroom coverage, bus, lunch, transition, and dismissal duties. Develop strong relationships with families through participation in school events and consistent phone calls, texts, and/or emails with caregivers. Offer support and receive constructive feedback from colleagues to foster a professional working atmosphere conducive to accountability, change, and improvement. Collaborate with grade‑level and content teams to tackle common challenges and implement grade‑wide systems, sharing responsibility for all students. Show dependable attendance according to the school calendar, and proactively communicate when attendance barriers arise. General Requirements and Responsibilities Embody KIPP MA’s Code of Conduct by acting with integrity, leading with humanity, centering self‑awareness and critical consciousness, taking personal responsibility, and engaging productively. Participate and engage in regional professional development and community events as required. Demonstrated ability to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make reasonable judgments and decisions in a timely manner in accordance with the school’s needs. Show self‑awareness, flexibility, and emotional intelligence to navigate a setting with students who express diverse needs. Employ interpersonal and self‑management skills to support behavioral and emotional needs, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment, and manage conflict with students, staff, and caregivers. Communicate effectively in person, in writing, in front of groups, and on virtual platforms. Maintain physical mobility to perform duties effectively, including kneeling, walking, pushing/pulling, squatting, twisting, turning, bending, stooping, and reaching overhead. Possess sufficient physical strength to lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds of materials or supplies and, if necessary, to restrain a student in an emergency. Have manual dexterity to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and operate a computer and office equipment. Demonstrated ability to drive student growth and achievement and to create a warm, inclusive, rigorous learning environment. Passion for subject/content area and commitment to professional learning. Minimum 2 years of full‑time teaching experience. Bachelor’s Degree required. Pass a criminal background check. Compensation and Benefits The minimum base salary for this exempt position ranges from $55,000 to $89,500 (for a 1.0 FTE/45 hours per week), depending on years of relevant experience after your Bachelor's degree and any advanced degrees (additional $3,000 for first advanced degree and $1,500 for second advanced degree). The role includes a $1,000 signing bonus and an annual $2,000 retention bonus in subsequent years, as well as other eligible bonuses.
