The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) plays a crucial role within a small psychiatric care team, providing expert mental health services as an independent practitioner. This role involves conducting on-site and telepsychiatry patient interactions during standard business hours, focusing on comprehensive psychiatric assessment, medication management, therapy, and crisis intervention to support patient recovery and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate mental health status
• Manage and adjust psychiatric medications for optimal treatment outcomes
• Provide individual and group therapy sessions tailored to patient needs
• Intervene effectively during psychiatric crises to ensure patient safety
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Educate patients and families on mental health conditions and treatments
• Document clinical encounters and maintain accurate patient records
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of 1-5 professionals to coordinate care
• Monitor compliance with treatment protocols and regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in psychiatric nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice
• Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
• Expertise in psychiatric assessment and medication management
• Proficiency in patient counseling and crisis intervention
• Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
• Excellent communication skills and empathy
• Strong clinical decision-making abilities
