Legal Support Supervisor I

Cal/OSHA’s Legal Unit is looking for a talented, independent, and creative individual to serve as Legal Support Supervisor I in our Los Angeles office. Incumbent will oversee at least 8‑12 support staff across southern California, including but not limited to Los Angeles, San Diego, and Santa Ana, and may also oversee staff in Northern California. Responsibilities Under the direction of the Assistant Chief Counsel of the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), the incumbent supervises the work of legal secretarial and clerical support staff providing legal support services to a large professional staff of attorneys and special investigators in the Bureau of Investigations unit (BOI). The incumbent may also perform responsible legal secretarial work in addition to supervision. Working Conditions Location: Division of Occupational Safety and Health – Legal Unit – Los Angeles 355 South Grand Ave., Suite 1850, Los Angeles, CA 90071. Employees have their own cubicles, work at desks, and are required to work extensively on computers, scanners, copiers, telephones, faxes, and shredders as necessary to process work and draft email communication. The position requires in‑state travel locally within Southern California or one‑to‑three‑day overnight trips within California. Legal Support Supervisor I will normally average a 40‑hour work week but may be required to work additional hours as necessary. Starting July 1, 2026 all staff may need to report 4 days in‑office with 1 teleworking day. Special Requirements Must type at least 40 WPM, have knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, and technical legal terms. Provide a 40 WPM typing certificate issued within the last four (4) years and certified from a five (5) minute typing test. Qualifications Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s). Knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, and technical terms required.
