Department Manager

Job Details Location: Lake Grove, NY 11755. Salary: $19.00 - $24.00 hourly. Responsibilities Act as a TPS Champion by modeling the G.U.E.S.T. service approach and consistently delivering world‑class service, including greeting and welcoming every customer warmly, understanding customer needs through open‑ended questions, explaining product features and benefits, suggesting additional items, and thanking customers sincerely. Be a TPS Brand Ambassador; build customer loyalty by being friendly, attentive, and respectful; inspire and motivate the team with positive feedback and recognition programs; maintain a positive work environment, ethical behavior, open communication, and confidentiality. Maintain professional attire, demeanor, appearance, and comply with company dress code. Make sound decisions in the best interest of the customer, store team, and business. Commit to training and development using all available resources and actively cross‑train in all departments. Continuously train and coach associates on merchandising, operational tasks, and G.U.E.S.T. service standards. Lead and execute completion of company directives within appropriate timeframes. Develop strong relationships with the Visual Merchandiser, Hallmark Merchandiser, Store Team Leaders, District Manager, and corporate partners. Maintain awareness of current promotions and process them correctly at the POS. Champion new product launches as the material expert in new product information. Ensure marketing and promotion signage is up to date and placed correctly. Respond promptly to all internal communications (Smart Sheet, email, etc.). After comprehensive training, perform ear piercings and provide a safe, sanitary experience in accordance with state, federal and CDC guidelines (select locations). Perform management functions such as opening/closing the store, managing POS operations, managing the sales floor, coordinating break schedules, etc. Assist the Store Team Leader in executing strategies to drive sales and customer loyalty through effective sales and service behaviors, the Hallmark Crown Rewards Program, TPS customer capture, and store events. Complete all tasks and directions as directed by the Store Team Leader, Merchandiser or District Manager. Comply with all company policies and procedures. Requirements Previous experience in specialty retail preferred. Ability to multitask while attending to customers. Capable of adapting to and leading change. Proficient in Microsoft Office and POS systems. Mobility on the sales floor and/or stock room for extended periods. Availability for a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Team player with strong leadership abilities. Resourceful and initiative to problem‑solve, operate strategically, and act as a team builder. Strong attention to detail while working autonomously. Physical ability to lift and mobilize medium to large items up to 50 lbs., using safe techniques. Willingness to travel to new store openings and remodels.
