Property Inspector

The Property Inspector, along with the rest of the Property Accounting team, inventories and maintains records of over 17,000 assets. Responsibilities Include: Auditing and approving shopping carts. Creating new assets meeting capitalization requirements. Auditing forms with changes and disposals of assets along with updating the asset records. Tagging newly purchased equipment with inventory tags. Conducting physical inventory of moveable assets for West Lafayette campus. What We’re Looking For: Required: Education and Experience: High School Diploma/GED. Three years of inventory control, public relations, customer service, PC experience in Microsoft systems, or related field. A valid Us or Canadian driver’s license. Skills Needed: Valid driver’s license and adherence to the University Vehicle Use Policy required. Must complete orientation training by Radiological and Environmental Management (REM) in use of radiation monitoring badge. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, file management and records, forms and other office procedures and terminology. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to clearly and timely communicate, verbally and in writing, with courtesy, sensitivity and respect. Demonstrated active listening skills which include checking that the message has been understood. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment to achieve common goals in a cooperative manner. Demonstrated customer service focus, including recognition that it should be value-added, meet quality standards, and is important to position. Demonstrated ability to provide directions and information, includes important events, decisions, and changes, and answer questions accurately, professionally, tactfully and in a timely manner. Demonstrated self-starter attitude. Must be proactive; take action based on one’s own sense of what is needed to achieve key directives and objectives, grasp opportunities or solve problems. Demonstrated willingness to go above and beyond job description to ensure success of a project necessary. Demonstrated ability to appropriately use and apply technology to accomplish work activities and ability to interpret and explain University policies and procedures and regulatory requirements applicable to this position.
