Yard Laborer

Location: Longview, Washington Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly Schedule: 40 hours per week

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Yard Laborer to support daily operations throughout the facility. This position performs general cleanup, janitorial services, and 5S housekeeping while assisting the Fabrication Shop and Wastewater teams as needed throughout the shift.

This is a hands-on, entry-level position performed primarily outdoors. Employees must be comfortable working around grease-trap and septic materials, including strong and unpleasant odors. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, willing to learn, and prepared to give 100% effort every day.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring alertness, good judgment, and attention to the safety of the employee and others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform general yard cleanup and maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
• Provide routine janitorial services throughout the facility.
• Follow 5S housekeeping principles to keep tools, materials, and supplies properly organized.
• Sweep, shovel, wash, and remove debris, grease, residue, and waste materials.
• Empty trash containers and properly dispose of waste according to facility procedures.
• Clean floors, walkways, workstations, equipment areas, and common spaces.
• Assist employees in the Fabrication Shop with basic labor and cleanup duties.
• Support the Wastewater team with general labor assignments throughout the shift.
• Move, organize, load, and unload materials and supplies.
• Use basic hand tools, cleaning equipment, hoses, brooms, shovels, and other assigned equipment.
• Clean spills promptly and place warning signs or barriers around hazardous areas.
• Maintain clear walkways, emergency exits, and equipment-access areas.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, spills, damaged equipment, or maintenance concerns.
• Complete assigned work thoroughly and within established deadlines.
• Assist other departments when operational needs require additional support.
• Perform other general labor and facility-support duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• No previous industry experience required.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures and common hand tools preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work outdoors throughout the entire shift.
• Ability to work around grease-trap waste, septic materials, wastewater, and strong odors.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Willingness to learn and perform a variety of physical tasks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to giving consistent effort and completing every assignment safely.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, humidity, and other changing weather conditions.
• Work around wastewater, grease-trap waste, septic materials, dirt, dust, mud, and unpleasant odors.
• Regularly stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequently bend, stoop, squat, reach, push, pull, and climb.
• Regularly lift and carry materials, tools, and supplies.
• Work around moving equipment, machinery, vehicles, and wet or uneven surfaces.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment, which may include gloves, safety glasses, protective footwear, hearing protection, and high-visibility clothing.
• Maintain awareness of surrounding hazards throughout the shift.
