Position Material Handler I Pay Rate Entry Rate: $18.54 3‑Month Increase: $19.66 Shift Available Monday–Friday 8:00 am–4:30 pm Primary Objectives Operate various powered industrial trucks to pick customer orders and convey orders to the packing station or shipping area. Major Function and Scope Perform a variety of warehouse duties such as pulling/assembling customer orders, checking outbound orders for accuracy/completeness, inventory stock checks, restocking and labeling vendor products, maintaining displays (tools, caulk, etc.), moving, storing, and replenishing material, and conducting daily cycle counts. Perform receiving duties such as receiving and unloading inbound material, processing inbound shipments, stocking material, processing customer returns, and notifying management of damaged shipments for freight claims. Operate forklift and order‑picker equipment. Maintain the clean and organized facility by sweeping, trash removal, restroom, and general office maintenance, etc. Maintain a safe working environment by obeying all safety rules as outlined in the Safety Program and reporting all accidents, unsafe conditions, and acts to management. Perform other related duties as required. Experience and Knowledge Required High school diploma or equivalent experience. 1‑year sit‑down forklift operator experience required. 1‑year previous warehouse experience preferred. Competencies Good oral and written communication skills. Good record‑keeping skills. Good listening skills. Accurate measurement capability. Basic English speaking and understanding. Ability to work in a safe and conscientious manner. Must be Dal‑Tile certified to operate powered industrial trucks. Other Pertinent Job Information The associate is regularly required to stand, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate may be required to sit, climb, or balance. The associate may lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The average number of picks per hour is 25, with an average weight between 40–70 lbs; heavier picks (50–70 lbs) constitute 65 % of the shift and lighter items (20–40 lbs) 35 % of the shift. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Weather conditions may vary, and the noise level is usually loud.
