Job Description Medical Laboratory Scientist II – Neptune, NJ – Monday to Friday 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with rotational weekends. Quest Diagnostics is hiring for a hospital-based position at Jersey Shore. Pay range: $32.00–$50.73 per hour. Employees may be eligible for shift differential of 10% for some or all hours on second shift and 15% for some or all hours on third shift. Salary offers are based on a combination of relevant skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation. Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of testing and troubleshoot all applicable instruments and procedures. Support the department in quality control, complex problem troubleshooting, customer support, instrument and equipment maintenance, staff training, process improvement, and special projects. Perform and report assigned analytical tests in accordance with SOPs and quality control requirements. Actively support and comply with laboratory policies and procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, reporting, and record keeping. Adhere to analytical schedules to maintain turnaround times for results, including STAT or critical results. Ensure reagents and test kits have current dates, expiration dates, and opening dates. Perform and document QC analysis to ensure accuracy of clinical data and proper instrument function. Inform supervisory personnel of all problems related to test performance. Report deviations from standard testing procedures and cooperate with investigations. Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for physician review and interpretation. Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition. Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate. Assist supervisor in training other laboratory personnel. Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements. Use personal protective equipment and engineering or work‑practice controls as directed. Answer questions from clients or other lab personnel. Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections if needed. Assume lead responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor, if qualified. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications One year of full‑time experience or training in high‑complexity testing in a clinical laboratory setting. Three years of clinical experience with most current year in present department (preferred). Physical requirements: lifting 1–10 lb frequently; 11–25 lb occasionally; 36–50 lb seldom; >50 lb not without assistance. Ability to stand and work at a bench for long periods, frequent walking or standing, and operate manual and automated pipettes and instruments requiring dexterity. Comprehensive knowledge of specialty, departmental policies, and procedures. BS/BA in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology; or associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology. Technologist certification under 42 CFR 493.1433 (March 14 1990) acceptable. Foreign‑educated candidates must provide credential evaluation from IERF. U.S.‑educated candidates must provide original transcript. State‑specific testing certifications may apply; check with local HR or QA. Skills Leadership and problem‑solving skills. Education Associate’s Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology (preferred). Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry (preferred).
