Our client is a non-profit organization. They seek a temp-to-perm Senior Accountant to join their Manhattan, NY, office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules as part of the month-end close process
• Reconcile bank accounts, investments, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, leases, and other balance sheet accounts
• Record payroll, benefits, and multiple revenue streams while ensuring accurate coding and compliance with U.S. GAAP
• Monitor month-end close activities by tracking outstanding items, resolving discrepancies, and escalating issues as needed
• Support retail accounting, inventory reconciliations, cost of goods sold, and purchase voucher allocations
• Compile audit-ready workpapers, financial analyses, variance explanations, and supporting documentation for audits and compliance reviews
• Evaluate internal controls and recommend process improvements to strengthen accounting operations and reporting accuracy
• Collaborate with development, finance, and operational teams to support receivables, gift accounting, reporting, and financial data integrity

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• 2-4+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong month-end close and balance sheet reconciliation experience
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule with regular in-office attendance and occasional extended hours during audit or reporting cycles
• Proficiency with ERP systems such as Sage Intacct or similar accounting software
