Director Accounting

SUMMARYThe Director, Accounting is responsible for the leadership and direction to a team of finance professionals and managers with primary responsibilities for managing the month-end close process for one or more areas of financial reporting, journal entries, reconciliations, and maintaining a robust control environment within the organization. Position requires a candidate with a significant amount of professional agility, a self-starter that quickly and effectively translates organization initiatives to departmental goals in order to achieve desired results.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.Develop and maintain financial reporting for various levels of internal management reporting needsLead responsibility for month-end close processes and variance reportingAssist in financial budgeting and forecastingProvide support for the annual internal and external auditsExecute on designed SOX internal controls governing public companiesIdentify and design effective, efficient controlsResponsible for maintaining a high-performing team including mentoring and training staff members and identifying cross-training opportunitiesLead other finance managers through example and work ethic to accomplish department development goalsWork with team members establish annual goals and strategic objectivesDemonstrate agility with competing projects and prioritiesLead and nurture a work culture with a positive attitude that promotes open, frequent and dynamic communication among staff, stimulating teamwork to accomplish desired goals and objectivesResponsible for supporting management initiatives including process standardization and simplification, financial analysis and research, and reportingCollaborate with other department in accomplishing strategic objectivesBASIC QUALIFICATIONSBA/BS in Accounting or Finance or Business Management with an emphasis in AccountingSeven or more years of experience in the accounting/financial reporting areasFive or more years of supervisory experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSFour or more years of experience in public accounting at a Big 4 firmSeven or more years of supervisory experienceCPAMBA, or graduate finance related degreeWorkday Financials experience or other large ERP systemsIntermediate understanding of REIT industryWorking knowledge of Corporate Tax and accounting for various legal entitiesKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESExcellent communicator with executive level managersExperience with delivering high level presentations to company executivesA strategic thinker with an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and financial processesProfessional agilityIntermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel skillsExperience with automated accounting systemsMust have the ability to effectively interface with all levels of the organizationDemonstrate willingness to partner across internal departments with competing prioritiesTOTAL REWARDSThis role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending and HSA accounts; paid holidays; paid time off; paid volunteer days; employee assistance program; tuition assistance; parental leave; military leave assistance; QTS scholarship for dependents; wellness program, and other company benefits.This position is Bonus eligible.This job may be eligible for equity.We conform to all the laws, statutes, and regulations concerning equal employment opportunities and affirmative action.
