Newborn Hearing Screen Technician - Per Diem

Newborn Hearing Screen Technician Join us in making a difference in the early detection of hearing loss in newborns. In this role you will perform hearing screens and provide education to parents at hospital birth centers, primarily at Baptist Medical Center Clay or other assigned hospital locations. The position includes on‑job training and annual certification accredited by the American Academy of Audiology. Responsibilities Comply with all company, hospital, and safety policies, including PPE, required vaccinations, and annual compliance modules; raise questions or concerns to the Hearing Screen Manager. Evaluate patients for “screen readiness” before performing a screen—ensuring they are fed, quiet, calm, and not moving or agitated. Collect demographics, perform the hearing screen, and document all results for every eligible newborn during each shift. Provide compassionate care and education to screened babies and their families about early intervention. Upload all screen results, billing, and state reporting by shift end and reconcile statistics unless instructed otherwise. Conduct screens efficiently while maintaining quality and patient satisfaction. Communicate results and education to the appropriate party; ensure parents receive clear instructions on next steps. Notify the Site Supervisor of missed and final refer babies. Schedule outpatient appointments for refer babies when appropriate; perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Current CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire. Flexibility to work weekends and national holidays. Preferred Experience Entry level: One to three months of experience with newborns or in a medical setting. Skills & Abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Maintain high confidentiality. Prioritize daily tasks and assignments. Work independently and as part of a team. Lift and move up to 25 pounds frequently, occasionally up to 50 pounds. Stand and walk frequently (95% of shift). Push/pull up to 100 pounds frequently. Demonstrate sensitivity when speaking to family and handling patients. Computer proficiency and accurate data entry.
