Accounting Manager

Financial Statement AccountantThis position is responsible for ensuring all financial statement accurately present the financial position of the company to management and customers. Related journal entries, audit workpapers, payments, cash forecasts and budgets will be prepared consistently following generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) at all times. This position includes decisions and/or recommendations regarding personnel actions and employee development.Essential DutiesFairly state financial statements with no deviations from GAAPResponsible for all audits, including but not limited to Internal, external, federal and stateRemain current with GAAP pronouncementsSupervise, lead, train, and develop personnelCommunicate with internal and external customers and process requested informationResponsible for long- and short-term cash and financing projections, and related budgetsResponsible for calculating mine closing financial entries and forecastsPerform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and state and federal environmental regulationsOther Duties & ResponsibilitiesAbility to work under stringent deadlines and multi-taskAbility to prioritize multiple requests and projectsDetail-oriented and highly accurateDevelop and conduct trainingPerform other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesEthical, trustworthy, and able to handle confidential informationExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate financial positions to non-accountant managementAccurate, detail oriented and dependableStrong knowledge of current GAAP requirementsStrong knowledge and experience with audit proceduresSelf-motivated with good time-management and organizational skillsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite products – especially Excel, Outlook, and WordExperience with successfully directing and supervising othersEducation and TrainingBachelor's degree in accounting or finance is requiredMinimum of 6 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or financial planning is requiredPrevious supervisory experience leading accounting or financial teams is preferredCertified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is preferredAnalysis of Physical Demands for PositionIntermittent: NoneOccasionally (0-1/3 of workday): Walking; standing; lift and/or carry 40 lbs.
