In this role, you'll analyze business processes, support the use of enterprise information systems such as Student, Finance, HR, and collaborate with campus partners to improve operational effectiveness, strengthen data integrity, and enhance services that support the student experience. - Business Systems Analysis & Process Improvement
- Analyze business processes, gather and document functional requirements, and recommend technology solutions that improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and Enterprise Systems to identify system enhancements, develop use cases, and support business process improvement initiatives.
- Document workflows, business process requirements, technical specifications, and system processes to support implementation and ongoing operations.
- Participate in system testing, validate results, and assist with implementation activities for enterprise business systems.
- Data Management, Governance & Compliance
- Collect, analyze, and manage data from enterprise systems to support reporting, compliance, and operational decision-making.
- Develop and maintain data documentation, including data dictionaries, workflow diagrams, and system integration maps.
- Support data governance initiatives and help ensure compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, CSU, SDSU, and other applicable policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with IT Security and campus partners to promote secure, accurate, and reliable data management practices.
- Systems Support & Reporting
- Provide functional support and troubleshoot issues related to my.SDSU and other enterprise business systems.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and data queries that support operational planning and informed decision-making.
- Track system processes, integrations, and dependencies while identifying opportunities to improve system performance and data quality.
- Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements that enhance business operations and technology services.
- Training & User Support
- Develop and deliver training programs, user guides, and documentation for enterprise business systems and business processes.
- Provide technical assistance and functional support to end users, resolving system issues and answering questions.
- Analyze support requests to identify trends and recommend improvements to systems, processes, and user resources.
- Collaborate with division and campus partners to ensure technology solutions effectively support divisional and university goals.
- Support student success through technology - Help improve the business systems and processes that support students, staff, and campus services.
- Turn data into meaningful solutions - Use analytics, technology, and process improvement to help inform decision-making across the division.
- Collaborate across campus - Partner with functional experts, technology teams, and university stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.
- Grow your expertise - Build experience with enterprise systems, business analysis, data governance, and process improvement in a dynamic higher education environment.
- This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027, with the possibility of reappointment.
- This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
- This position is eligible for telecommuting up to 1 day per week, with on-campus work at SDSU in San Diego.
- Experience with querying tools (e.g., SQL, Oracle SQL Developer).
- Proficiency in writing complex queries using Query Manager in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.
- Four years of complex system analysis and hands-on project coordination experience, preferably in a highly regulated environment (education, healthcare, military, etc.) is required for this position.
- Project management experience in software development and system integration.
- Experience in application development and project management in higher education or other regulated industries.
- Experience providing both functional and technical support in a student information system, preferably PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.
- Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($6,492/month).
- Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,120 - $9,458 per month (Step 1-Step 20).
- Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
